Owner Yoke-Mun Wong, will host a grand opening Saturday at Bhody a new store selling clothing, accessories and home decor at 1526 Pacific Ave., the space vacated by Kurios. There will be a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 3 p.m. with Mayor Cynthia Mathews, wine and appetizers, with merchandise 10 percent off.
Wong, of Santa Cruz, had commuted to San Jose, working in private label body care products, but she wanted to work where she lived. She thought the space on Pacific Avenue was the right spot.
“We want to sell quality items,” she said. “Each piece should be right for you … Most of our products, 90 percent, come from the United States.”
She carries Parker Dusseau functional menswear from San Francisco, for which Santa Cruz artist-skateboarder Jeremiah Kille is a model, Closet London dresses, and Beru Kids, children’s clothing made in Los Angeles.
Santa Clara wood craftsman Sam Raske built the shelves by reusing discarded material and cabinets out of cigar boxes while Cardinal Construction remodeled Wong’s office.
Regular hours will be 10:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday. For information visit Bhody.com or call 831-800-1626.
